About the Opportunity

KRG is looking for a full-time Assistant Director of Finance based in Kuujjuaq, Quebec.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Director of Finance is accountable for managing and supervising the KRG’s centralized finance and accounting systems and processes.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Communicating and disseminating information related to internal controls and procedures
  • Recommending and implementing measures to resolve issues and improve work processes
  • Ensuring best practices on procedure implementation and providing proper training and follow-up
  • Assisting employees in applying procedures and controls
  • Supervising accounts payable and receivable operations and ensuring monthly sub-ledger follow-ups
  • Supporting the preparation of audits and overseeing month and year-end closing activities
  • Analyzing and implementing auditor’s recommendations in collaboration with the Director
  • Coordinating timekeeping and supporting daily payroll operations

About You

To qualify, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and finance, ideally with municipal accounting experience. If you possess fewer years of experience but have transferrable skills and the determination to excel within the organization, we encourage you to reach out to us.

The following are required:

  • A CPA designation
  • Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, and French

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Sage Accpacc and Ceridian (asset)
  • Proven ability to train and mentor team members, fostering a supportive environment
  • Strong people management skills, with a willingness to engage directly in tasks to support the team
